By placing an order, scheduling a pickup, or using this website, you agree to these Terms of Service.

 

1. Scope of Products

 

We sell:

  • Live animals (including but not limited to jumping spiders, feeder insects, isopods, springtails, and clean-up crew)

  • Live plants

  • Non-live goods (including enclosures, acrylic items, décor, tools, substrates, kits, and accessories)

  • Custom and made-to-order items

Where policies differ by product type, the most specific policy applies.

2. Buyer Responsibility

 

By purchasing, you confirm that:

  • You are legally permitted to own the items ordered

  • You understand appropriate care and housing requirements

  • You have reviewed all shipping, temperature, pickup, and feeder policies

  • You accept responsibility for compliance with all applicable laws

3. Legal Compliance & Restricted States

 

Buyers are solely responsible for complying with all federal, state, and local laws regarding live animals, invertebrates, feeder insects, plants, soil, and related supplies.

 

Orders placed in violation of any law or restriction are not eligible for refund or replacement.

 

We are not responsible for confiscation, refusal, destruction, or disposal of shipments due to legal restrictions, including but not limited to Florida, California, Hawaii, or any regulated jurisdiction.

 

4. Product Variation & Disclosures

 

4.1 Live Animals (Display / Pet Species)

 

Live animals vary naturally in color, size, pattern, temperament, and behavior. Traits may change with age, molt cycles, environment, and care.

 

4.2 Sex / Gender of Jumping Spiders

 

Sex is listed as male, female, suspected, or unsexed based on best assessment at the time of listing.

Sex is not guaranteed unless explicitly stated as confirmed. Juveniles cannot always be accurately sexed.

 

4.3 Live Plants

 

Live plants may experience cosmetic changes during shipping or acclimation, including leaf loss or blemishes. Minor cosmetic imperfections are normal and not grounds for refund.

 

4.4 Enclosures & Supplies

 

Handmade, assembled items, 3D printed may show minor cosmetic variation. Small scuffs or marks that do not affect function are not considered defects.

 

4.5 Feeder Insects

 

Feeder insects are live, perishable animals intended for feeding purposes, not display or companionship.

  • Size, coloration, activity level, and lifespan may vary

  • Minor losses during transit or shortly after arrival are normal

  • Feeder insects are priced accordingly and not sold as pets

  • Partial losses are not grounds for refund or replacement.

5. Order Accuracy & Abandoned Orders

 

Buyers are responsible for providing accurate shipping and contact information.

 

Orders delayed, returned, lost, or destroyed due to incorrect addresses, refusal, failure to receive, or failure to respond are not eligible for refund or replacement.

 

Orders not claimed, scheduled, or responded to within fourteen (14) days may be considered abandoned and cancelled without refund.

6. Order Changes & Cancellations

 

Due to the nature of live animals, feeder insects, and custom items, cancellations or changes after purchase are not guaranteed.

 

If a cancellation is approved for non-live, non-custom items prior to fulfillment, refunds (if any) exclude original shipping costs and non-recoverable fees. 50% relisting fee, if label is already purchased it can not be refunded. 

7. Local Pickup Policy (Westland, Michigan)

 

Local pickup is available by appointment only

Live Arrival Guarantee does not apply to local pickup orders

Responsibility transfers to the buyer at the time of handoff

Animals cannot be held indefinitely due to welfare concerns

Missed pickup appointments may result in cancellation without refund

 

 

7.1 Rescheduling

 

One (1) reschedule may be requested with at least 24 hours’ notice.

Rescheduled pickups must occur within seven (7) days of the original appointment.

Additional reschedules or failure to attend may result in cancellation without refund.

8. Shipping Methods & Variable Shipments

 

8.1 Variable Shipping of Feeder Insects

 

Feeder insects may ship:

  • Separately from display or pet animals, or

  • Alone, or

  • Combined, depending on species, size, quantity ordered, seasonal conditions, and animal welfare considerations.

 

Shipping methods for feeder insects may differ from those used for display or pet animals and are selected at our discretion for safety.

9. Required Live Animal Shipping Form

 

Any order containing a live animal (including jumping spiders, feeder insects, or clean-up crew) requires completion of a Live Animal Shipping Form.

 

The form will be emailed to the buyer after purchase and is also available on our Shipping Guide page

 

The form must be completed before shipment

 

The form is used to confirm:

  • Shipping method

  • Delivery vs hub pickup

  • Weather considerations

  • Availability for receipt

 

Failure to complete the required form may result in:

  • Shipping delays

  • Order cancellation without refund

  • Void Live Arrival Guarantee coverage

10. Weather, Temperature & Carrier Conditions

 

Shipping of live animals and feeder insects is dependent on safe weather conditions at the origin, destination, and transit hubs.

 

We reserve the right to delay shipment due to unsafe temperatures, storms, or carrier disruptions.

Weather-related delays do not qualify for order cancellation or refunds.

 

Carrier delays include, but are not limited to:

  • Missed scans

  • Reroutes

  • Mechanical failures

  • Staffing shortages

  • Facility hold

  • Weather-related slowdowns

 

Declining required temperature add-ons or required carrier hub pickup voids Live Arrival Guarantee coverage.

11. Live Arrival Guarantee (LAG)

 

11.1 General LAG

 

Live Arrival Guarantee applies only when all requirements are met, including:

 

  • Completion of the required Live Animal Shipping Form

  • Correct shipping method selection

  • Required temperature add-ons

  • Prompt delivery or carrier pickup

  • Timely documentation

 

11.2 Reporting Window

 

Issues must be reported within 1 hour of delivery or carrier pickup availability.

 

Proof Requirements

Documentation must be clear, well-lit, and complete, showing:

  • The animal(s)

  • The shipping container

  • Packing materials

 

Incomplete or unclear documentation may void coverage.

11.2 Resolution

 

If LAG conditions are met, resolution is limited to one (1) of the following, at our discretion:

 

  • Replacement animal

  • Store credit

  • Refund of the animal purchase price only

 

Partial refunds are not offered.

Replacement animals are selected at our discretion.

Shipping costs and add-ons are non-refundable.

 

Responsibility transfers fully to the buyer once the Live Arrival Guarantee reporting window has passed.

11.3 LAG Exclusions

LAG does not apply if:

  • Required add-ons were not selected

  • Required hub pickup was declined

  • Shipping form was not completed

  • Package was left unattended

  • Incorrect address was provided

  • Carrier delays or missed scans occurred

  • Shipment proceeded against weather recommendations

  • Animal was handled improperly after arrival

11.4 Abandoned at Hub Policy

 

If a shipment is sent via FedEx Hub Hold and marked “Available for Pickup,” the buyer is responsible for retrieving the package promptly.

 

Packages must be picked up on the same day they become available. Failure to pick up within 6 hours of availability or by the end of the same business day (whichever occurs first) voids the Live Arrival Guarantee.

 

If a package is not picked up, refused, delayed, or returned due to buyer inaction and results in loss, injury, or death of the animal, the order will be considered abandoned.

 

Abandoned shipments are not eligible for refunds, credits, or replacements.

 

Shipping fees are non-refundable. If reshipping is approved, new shipping fees will apply.

 

Once a package is marked delivered or available for pickup, responsibility transfers to the buyer.

11.5 Incorrect Address & Delivery Responsibility

 

Buyers are responsible for providing a correct and deliverable address.

 

If a package is delayed, returned, or misdelivered due to an incorrect or incomplete address provided by the buyer, all guarantees are void.

 

A working phone number must be provided for shipping coordination.

12. Feeder Insect Live Arrival Guarantee

Live Arrival Guarantee for feeder insects:

  • Applies only to the condition upon arrival

  • Does not cover longevity after delivery

  • Requires reporting within 1 hour with clear photos or video

 

Due to the nature of feeder insects:

  • Partial losses are expected and not covered

  • LAG applies only if the entire shipment arrives deceased

 

13. Non-Live Item Processing & Shipping Times

 

Processing Time

Non-live items require 3–10 business days for processing unless otherwise stated.

Processing times may extend during:

  • Sales

  • Launches

  • Holidays

  • Supplier delays

  • Equipment issues

  • High order volume

 

Processing time is separate from shipping time.

 

Carrier delivery estimates are not guaranteed.

Carrier delays do not qualify for refunds or replacements unless explicitly covered under Live Arrival Guarantee.

14. Custom & Made-to-Order Items

Custom items require extended production time. All timelines are estimates, not guarantees.

 

14.2 Final Sale

Custom and made-to-order items are final sale once production has begun.

Production is considered started once:

  • Materials are ordered

  • Design work begins

  • Fabrication is scheduled

 

14.3 Changes & Delay

Modification requests are not guaranteed and may incur fees or delays.

Production or supplier delays do not qualify for cancellation or refunds.

15. 3D-Printed Products (PLA & PETG)

Weird is Beautiful offers custom and small-batch 3D-printed accessories made from PLA and PETG for invertebrate enclosure use and light-duty applications.

15.1 Nature of 3D-Printed Items

Because these items are produced using additive manufacturing:

  • Minor surface texture, layer lines, or small imperfections are normal

  • Slight color or finish variations may occur

  • Products may vary slightly from photos due to lighting or design updates

  • These characteristics are inherent to 3D printing and are not considered defects.

15.2 Material Limitations

PLA and PETG are intended for indoor, controlled environments

Both materials may soften or deform if exposed to high heat or direct heat sources

Items should not be exposed to heat lamps, open flame, boiling water, or dishwashers

15.3 Intended Use & Care

3D-printed products are intended for:

  • Invertebrate enclosures

  • Decorative or enrichment use

  • Light-duty functionality as described in listings

Customers are responsible for proper placement, inspection before use, and discontinuing use if an item becomes damaged or compromised.

15.4 Modifications & Responsibility

Any modification, alteration, or misuse of 3D-printed products voids responsibility or replacement eligibility. Use of products is at the customer’s own risk.

15.5 Returns & Variations

3D-printed items may be eligible for replacement only if damaged on arrival or affected by a manufacturing defect. Normal cosmetic variation, wear, or environmental damage is not eligible.

15.6 Assumption of Risk

By purchasing or using 3D-printed products from Weird is Beautiful, you acknowledge the inherent characteristics and limitations of PLA and PETG materials and accept responsibility for proper use

15.7 Processing Time for 3D-Printed Products

3D-printed products are produced in small batches and, in some cases, made to order.

  • Standard 3D-printed items may require additional processing time before shipment

  • Custom, made-to-order, or bulk orders may require extended processing time of up to two (2) weeks or longer, depending on order size, complexity, material availability, and current production volume

  • Processing time refers to production time only and does not include shipping transit time.

 

Estimated processing times are provided on product listings when applicable and may vary. By placing an order for 3D-printed products, you acknowledge and accept these potential processing delays.

Weird is Beautiful is not responsible for delays caused by production requirements, customization requests, or circumstances outside our control.

16. Returns & Refunds (Non-Live Items)

Live animals, feeder insects, and live plants are non-returnable.

Approved returns (if any) require:

  • Buyer-paid return shipping

  • Items unused and in original condition

  • Original shipping costs are non-refundable.

Damage to non-live items must be reported within 48 hours of delivery with clear photos.

17. User-Submitted Media & Content Submissions

 

Weird is Beautiful may offer adopters and community members the opportunity to voluntarily submit photos, videos, or other content (“User Content”), including but not limited to unboxing media, enclosure setups, or showcase content.

 

User Content may be submitted through:

  • Website forms

  • Member areas

  • Mobile applications

  • Email or other official communication channels

  • Social media platforms where Weird is Beautiful maintains an official presence

17.1 Media Consent Requirement

User Content will only be accepted or considered for use after completion of a separate Media Release & Content Consent Form.

Submission of content without a completed consent form does not grant permission for use

Each consent applies only to the media submitted with that form

The Media Consent Form is incorporated into and governed by these Terms

17.2 Permitted Use of Submitted Content

Once consent is granted, Weird is Beautiful may use approved User Content for:

Website and blog content

Mobile application features

Social media posts, reels, stories, or videos

Educational or informational materials

Marketing and promotional content related to Weird is Beautiful

Content may be edited for formatting, clarity, or length, but not in a misleading or harmful manner.

17.3 Ownership & Rights

You retain ownership of your User Content.

By submitting content and completing the Media Consent Form, you grant Weird is Beautiful a non-exclusive, royalty-free license to use the content as described.

You represent and warrant that:

You own the content or have legal permission to submit it

The content does not infringe on the rights of others

The content does not violate any laws or platform rules

17.4 Prohibited Content & Animal Welfare

User Content must not:

Depict unsafe, negligent, or harmful animal handling

Show abuse, neglect, or improper care

Include illegal, defamatory, or misleading material

Include sensitive personal information

Weird is Beautiful reserves the right to decline or remove content at its sole discretion.

17.5 Removal Requests

You may request removal of approved User Content by contacting Weird@weirdisbeautiful.store.

Reasonable efforts will be made to honor removal requests, though content already published or shared may not be fully retractable.

17.6 No Compensation or Endorsement

Submission of User Content:

Does not guarantee publication or use

Does not entitle the submitter to compensation

Does not constitute endorsement of the user or their opinions

17.7 Platform Disclaimer

User Content submitted or shared through third-party platforms is also subject to those platforms’ terms and privacy policies. Weird is Beautiful is not responsible for how third-party platforms process or display content.

18. Chargebacks & Payment Disputes

Buyers are encouraged to contact us first to resolve concerns.

Filing a chargeback without first contacting us may result in loss of eligibility for guarantees and refusal of future sales.

19. Harassment & Conduct

Harassment, threats, abusive language, or unreasonable demands may result in termination of communication and refusal of future sales.

20. Policy Supremacy

Website policies supersede all private messages, emails, social media communications, or verbal statements.

21. Force Majeure

We are not liable for delays or losses caused by events beyond our control, including weather events, carrier failures, staffing shortages, supply interruptions, or acts of government.

22. Limitation of Liability

 

To the fullest extent permitted by law:

We are not liable for indirect or consequential damages

Buyer assumes risk once items leave our care except where explicitly covered by Live Arrival Guarantee

We are not responsible for losses outside the Live Arrival Guarantee window

23. Changes to Terms

 

We reserve the right to update these Terms at any time.

Continued use of this website constitutes acceptance of updated Terms.

24. Governing Law

 

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Michigan, United States.
