Drainage Layer - Foundation Layer

The Drainage Layer forms the base of a stable bioactive enclosure, preventing excess water from pooling in the substrate and helping maintain proper airflow throughout the system.
 
By creating space beneath the soil. this layer allows moisture to settle below the substrate instead of saturating it, reducing the risk of root rot, mold and stagnant conditions. Its a simple but critical step in building a healthy, long lasting environment. 
 
Whether you're setting up a new enclosure or upgrading an existing one, a proper drainage layer ensures your system stays breathable, balanced, and functional over time.
 
How to Use:
Add as the bottom of your enclosure. Pair with a drainage barrier or mesh to separate it from the substrate above.
